Dr. Asmaa Mahmoud is a Consultant in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) based in Italy and a Board Member of the Mediterranean Forum of PRM (MFPRM). She practices at Santo Stefano Rehabilitation, specializing in neurological and complex rehabilitation, with particular expertise in the post-acute and sub-acute management of patients with cerebral lesions. She holds a Master’s degree in PRM, a PhD in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (awarded with distinction), and a Diploma in Healthcare Management accredited by Cambridge International Qualifications. Her international experience includes academic and leadership roles at Ain Shams University (Egypt) and as Head of the PRM Department at MSCS Rehabilitation Center in Qatar.
With nearly 22 years of clinical experience, Dr. Mahmoud is actively engaged in clinical research focused on patient engagement and innovative rehabilitation models. Her professional interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS), the integration of art therapy in neurorehabilitation, and emerging rehabilitation technologies. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, international conferences, and editorial activities with journals such as the Egyptian Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Journal (ERAR) and The Muscles, Ligaments and Tendons Journal (MLTJ). She is an active member of ISPRM and other international scientific societies. Her multilingual proficiency (fluent in English, Italian, and Arabic) strengthens her professionalism in international settings, supporting a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered rehabilitation.
