Heakyung Kim, MD, is Professor and Chair of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the Kimberly Clark Distinguished Chair in Mobility Research at UT Southwestern. She is an internationally recognized leader in pediatric rehabilitation, with expertise in lifelong care for individuals with cerebral palsy, spasticity management—including the Single Event Multilevel Chemoneurolysis (SEMLC) using botulinum toxin and phenol and advanced botulinum toxin treatments for spasticity and sialorrhea. She is also an accomplished neuromuscular sonographer.
Dr. Kim previously served as Vice Chair of PM&R and founding Chief of Pediatric PM&R at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She has been named one of “America’s Top Doctors” for more than two decades and is a four time “Teacher of the Year” awardee.
She chaired the AAP Global Academic Physiatry Subcommittee (2023–2025), served on the WHO cerebral palsy rehabilitation group, and has spent over 20 years advancing global pediatric rehabilitation through the Children’s Cross Border Pediatric Foundation.
