Dr. Mary Elizabeth Nelson-Biersach, DNP, NP is a global rehabilitation and health systems leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) through clinical practice, organizational leadership, and international collaboration. She is President of ME Global Health Rehabilitation Consulting and previously spent over two decades in academic PM&R practice in the United States, with additional experience in intensive care, long-term care, and subacute rehabilitation service development.
Dr. Nelson-Biersach serves as Vice President of the International Rehabilitation Forum, supporting the development of PM&R systems and workforce capacity in low-resource regions. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in spasticity management and neuromodulation. As a member of the World Health Organization’s World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) Research Workstream and several international advisory groups, she actively contributes to advancing the goals of the WHO’s Rehabilitation 2030 initiative.
