Professor Fary Khan AM, MBBS, MD, FAFRM (RACP) is a Specialist in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), the Director of Rehabilitation Services, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Director, The Australian Rehabilitation Research Centre; Professor, Department of Medicine at University of Melbourne and the Nossal Institute of Global Health, and the PeterMac Centre Melbourne. She is an International Member for the USA Academy of Medicine for her contribution to Rehabilitation Medicine, The Member for the Order of Australia (2022),The George Burniston Oration Medal (RACP 2024), The Ollie Hook Oration Award (2024) and other awardss for research and services in furthering Rehabilitation. She is the Elected Board Member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Bi-National Rehabilitation Strategy for Australia and New Zealand. She is immediate past Inaugural Academic Fellow to the Board of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM)-RACP. She is President Elect for both, the ISPRM and the Asia Oceanian Society of Neurorehabilitation. She is the AFRM representative for the Peri-operative Medicine RACP and an. Executive Committee Member for Evidence Advisory Committee, Department of Health & Aging, Commonwealth Govenment Australia.
With 20 years of experience in neurological, cancer and trauma rehabilitation,She represents the Australia at several international forums. She leads the Global Rehabilitation ‘Flying Faculty’ (endorsed by the RACP, ISPRM), established to support capacity-building activities in Rehabilitation Medicine, in over 15 countries.
She leads a team of interdisciplinary researchers, implementing and evaluating healthcare innovations and quality improvement programs. Her awards, include the Haim Ring Memorial Award (2020), Sidney Licht Lectureship Award (2018) , the Inaugural RMH Research Medal in 2014 and the Inaugural RACP specialist award for ‘Outstanding contribution to Research and Mentoring’ in 2009. She has published over 550 scientific papers in peer-reviewed academic journals.
