Director, Stroke Biological Recovery Laboratory
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School
Qing Mei Wang, MD, PhD, Physiatrist, Director, Stroke Biological Recovery Laboratory, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, the teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School
Dr. Qing Mei Wang obtained her PhD and MD at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She has been attending physician since 2008 at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH), the teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She is director of Stroke Biological Recovery Laboratory at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. She provides inpatient/outpatient clinical care, supervise trainees, and conduct research to enhance our knowledge and the quality of patient care.
Dr. Wang’s research has been funded by American National Institute of Health as well as intramural grants that aim to determine molecular biological mechanisms of neuroinflammation in neurological disorder and to develop novel pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to promote recovery.
Dr. Wang’s research involves cellular, animal and clinical disciplines, aiming to bridge basic science breakthrough to bedside therapy. including genetic study, pharmacological intervention and non-invasive brain stimulation to promote neurological recovery. There are several areas of investigation that are critical to this laboratory’s core mission:1) Develop novel interventions to promote neurological recovery using pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies 2) Understand the role of neuroinflammation in stroke recovery and Lyme disease. 3) Discover biomarkers using metabolomic and genomic to predict recovery and to serve as surrogate to evaluate the responsiveness to therapy for developing individualized therapy.
