Marlene Alejandra Rodríguez Barragán, MD, MSc, is a Physician on the Spinal Cord Injury Service from the Neurological Rehabilitation Division at the National Institute of Rehabilitation “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra”, Mexico City. After receiving her Medical Degree in 2013, Marlene completed her Specialty in Rehabilitation Medicine in 2016 and a Fellowship in Neurorehabilitation in 2017 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Marlene earned her master’s in science degree at the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico City in 2019.
She is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and then earned certification in Neurological Rehabilitation. She currently works in ambulatory and in-hospital clinical attention and research of spinal cord injury. From 2017 to April 2021, she worked in the Acquired Brain Injury Service and contributed to research regarding neural plasticity, clinical research and rehabilitation in acquired brain injury. From April 2021 to the present, her research focus is on spinal cord injury and is focused on neural plasticity and functional recovery following injury.
