Dr. Kristin Musselman is a physical therapist and Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. She is also a Senior Scientist and Associate Lead with the Neural Engineering and Therapeutics Team at KITE, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network, and a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Multi-morbidity and Complex Rehabilitation. She completed a BSc in Life Sciences and a BSc in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University, followed by an MSc in Neuroscience and a PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alberta. From 2010 to 2013, Kristin was a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute. The overarching aim of Kristin’s research is to develop innovative, clinically feasible approaches to restore movement, function, and participation for individuals living with complex neurological disease, with a particular focus on spinal cord injury (SCI). Together with the SCI Mobility Lab team, she develops and implements assessments, technologies, and interventions that emphasize individualization, self-efficacy, and the principles of neuroplasticity. Her research has been funded by CIHR, NSERC, the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, and the Connaught New Researcher and Canada Research Chairs Programs.
