Dr. Audrey Yap is an Assistant Professor and physician in Toronto specializing in neurorehabilitation. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a board-certified member of the American Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Dr. Yap serves as Education Lead for the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Sinai Health. She is the Accessibility Theme Lead for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Curriculum at the University of Toronto—the first role of its kind in a Canadian medical school. She is also a co-founder of the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Anti-Ableism Special Interest Group.
Working collaboratively with individuals with lived experience of disability, community partners, medical students, and faculty, Dr. Yap advances the Social Model of Disability through an intersectional lens. She advocates for recognizing disability as a natural part of the human experience and is committed to removing ableism from medical education. Her work focuses on embedding accessibility and inclusive practices into curricula and fostering lifelong learning to improve care for all.
