Dr. Kristen Slater is a clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based behavioral treatments for chronic pain. She completed a fellowship in pain psychology at Stanford University School of Medicine and has over a decade of experience helping patients reduce pain and improve functioning.
Her clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) to address both the physical and emotional dimensions of pain. She focuses on helping patients change their relationship to pain, reduce fear, and re-engage in meaningful life activities.
Dr. Slater has developed and led pain psychology services within interdisciplinary care settings and currently works at Stanford, where she implements evidence-based programs, supervises trainees, and contributes to NIH- and PCORI-funded research aimed at improving access to effective pain treatment. She is also a master faculty instructor with Empowered Relief, training clinicians internationally.
