Dr. Maya Newman completed a master’s in Global Health Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington. She started working as an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine under the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California, Los Angeles in January 2023. Her fellowship research focused on disaster preparedness for children with special healthcare needs and she continues to expand her research on the intersection of climate change and disability. She is also a reviewer for the Journal of Climate Change and Health and a board member of Sustain Our Abilities.
