Dr. Matthew Downer is a first year resident physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Toronto. He was born and raised in St. John’s NL, where he completed a BSc(Hons) and MD at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also completed an MSc in Epidemiology and DPhil (PhD) in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Outside of his role as a PM&R resident, Matthew is an Associate Health Policy Research Fellow at the National Institute on Ageing at Toronto Metropolitan University and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Wolfson Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia at the University of Oxford.
