Brief Session Description : Recognizing skeletal muscle not merely as an effector of cardiovascular function but as an integral partner in health and disease raises important implications for CR. Routine assessment of skeletal muscle could improve risk stratification, enable more personalized exercise prescriptions, and identify targets for adjunctive interventions, including nutritional and pharmacological strategies.
Session Objectives:
Recognizing skeletal muscle as both a therapeutic target and prognostic marker reframes cardiovascular rehabilitation as a whole-system approach, moving beyond a cardiac and pulmonary-centered model to maximize long-term patient outcomes.
