Initial assessment demonstrated significant reduction in pain (VAS ) and Foot function Index in patients using customised 3D printed orthotics. Reasons for dissatisfaction with the provided orthotics were analysed and integrated into process improvement. Second stage correlation analysis of Foot pressure with Foot pain area revealed no correlation between high foot pressure and pain areas (P > 0.05) for both static and dynamic pressure. Therefore, Foot Pressure analysis-based prescriptions was not integrated into the 3D printed foot orthotics. Data analysis (Subjective and objective) further helped in creation of a predictive model to automate and improve design accuracy which can help in manufacture of cost-effective, semi-custom insoles.
Conclusion: This clinical validation study of new technology provided basis for integration of foot data using smartphone into manufacture of customised foot orthotics using 3D printing.
