900 Section - A Study on the Satisfaction of the Rehabilitation Group Educational Program for Parents of Infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Objectives : Infants who have been treated in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) are at high risk for developmental delay. Therefore, appropriate management through parents is important. The purpose of this study was to investigate the satisfaction of the rehabilitation group educational program for parents whose infants admitted to the NICU.

Design: This study was conducted with parents of infants admitted to the NICU from From March 2024 to September 2025. We provided rehabilitation group educational program during 60 minutes by physical therapists and occupational therapists. The program consisted of explanations on development of infants. And it consisted of education about how to play, proper posture, and exercise. We investigated the parents' personal information and satisfaction through a questionnaire. The questionnaire on program satisfaction consisted of 4 questions, and the score was measured in 5 level.

Results: A total of 155 parents of 182 infants participated; 153 parents completed the questionnaire. Among the infants, 54.9% were boys and 45.1% girls. In terms of gestational age, 70.3% were born before 32 weeks, and 64.3% weighed under 1,500g. Most respondents were mothers (80.4%), primarily in their 30s (75.8%). Satisfaction was high: 76.5–86.9% “strongly agreed” that the program was informative, suitable for their child, and provided valuable knowledge about care and play. Additionally, 86.9% stated they would recommend the program to others.

Conclusion: The findings indicate that parents of NICU infants were highly satisfied with the rehabilitation group education program. These results suggest that structured, therapist-led parental education can enhance understanding and confidence in infant care, supporting its continued implementation in NICU settings.
