200 Section - Cryoneurolysis: Experiences in Optimizing Outcomes and Utilizing the Dynamic Nature of this Treatment through years of Treating Patients with Chronic Pain, Sports Medicine Injuries, and Spasticity
PM&R/Sports Medicine Attending Northside Hospital Lawrenceville, Georgia, United States
Objectives : The objective of this talk would be to describe my experiences over 4 years and almost 2,000 patients with cryoneurolysis treatment. My practice is diverse and includes patients with chronic joint/back pain, spasticity, and sports medicine injuries in which I have seen great successes and some failures with the use of cryoneurolysis. It is a dynamic treatment that has changed my practice and I would like to impart what I have learned thus far to those in atendance.
Design: I plan to use an evidence based approach using both data that I have published, others have published, some unpublished studies pending done in my clinic, and anecdotal experiences to impart my thoughts and experiences with this treatment.
Results: Results will be explicitely described in an evidence-based format and anecdotal evidence used when necessary due to the young nature of the cryoneurolysis movement. More research is certainly needed in this field but this will serve as a "current status" update and a look into what needs to be done in the future.
Conclusion: Cryoneurolysis is a dynamic, percutaneous treatment that can be used to treat a myriad of patients. Many research studies have been done and are ongoing as well as best practices still need to be established. This presentation would highlight the current state of cryoneurolysis research, impart clinical tips of an experienced user, and highlight what the future of cryoneurolysis could look like.
