The objectives are to reduce variation in spasticity management across clinics and to promote effective multimodal treatment approaches. They also aim to strengthen competence in interdisciplinary spastisity assessment, as well as to enhance clinical expertise through a two-day cross-disciplinary training course at Sunnaas.
Design:
The courses combined theoretical and practical workshops.
Participants worked in interdisciplinary groups focusing on clinical assessment procedures including video-based kinematic analysis and gait analysis. Learning objectives included recognizing different forms of muscle overactivity, goal-oriented treatment planning, selecting appropriate interventions, evaluating outcomes, and strategies for local follow-up.
The participants evaluated the course by completing a six-question questionnaire (satisfaction measured on a scale from 1 to 5) and provided feedback for course improvement.
Results:
In 2025, three two-day courses were conducted with 40 participants, including interdisciplinary teams from rehabilitation facilities across Norway.
Participants were highly satisfied with the course (mean rating 4.4), with the emphasis put on clinical relevance, interdisciplinary collaboration and theoretical instructions combined with hands-on practice, claiming that the course strengthened their theoretical and practical skills, with the suggestion that the practical sessions should be lengthened.

Conclusion:
A interdisciplinary training can effectively enhance clinical expertise and strehghten clinical practice in spasticity management. Future efforts aim to expand the program and establishing a standardized training platform to enhance high-quality clinical practice in Norway and internationally.
