This multicentre study will be conducted in inpatient rehabilitation settings globally, and will include patients with both specific and non-specific diagnoses. Functioning will be assessed using the ClinFIT Generic-30 (30 ICF categories). Assessments will be performed at two time points—admission and discharge, to capture changes in functioning during inpatient rehabilitation. Data will be collected using ClinFIT-Compass and/or REDCap, enabling standardized, secure, and harmonized data management across participating sites. Key demographic, clinical variables and other functioning outcome measures will also be collected to enable calculation of minimally clinical important differences.
There is a need for a standardized, feasible, and internationally comparable approach to capture patient functioning and its change during rehabilitation, in alignment with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). ISPRM's ClinFIT Special Interest Group has launched an initiative to address this need. The project is expected to generate one of the largest international datasets on functioning in inpatient rehabilitation, supporting benchmarking, cross-country comparison, and evidence-informed rehabilitation practice, and strengthening the global integration of functioning as a key health outcome.
